I am honored and extremely humbled to serve as the Superintendent of Washington Unified School District. As a life-long resident of the district, I am a proud product of our local schools. It is the mission of Washington Unified School District to support families in raising the future of our community and the world. We embrace this tremendous opportunity and will strive to provide the very best for our kids every day. We would like to encourage our stakeholders to join us in this mission. Your valued input and support is critical to the services we provide for our kids.
The 2020-2021 school year will be like no other. With the COVID-19 pandemic impacting much of the world and specifically our Central Valley we will be conducting school in a brand new way. We will begin under the Governor’s guidance in a 100% distance learning format. We know this creates many challenges for students, families, and staff. WUSD will do everything possible to support this new learning format while eagerly anticipating the day kids can come back to our campuses.
Along with the pandemic, our country continues to face the fact that racism plagues our very culture. It is unacceptable for our society to continue to function in a discriminatory fashion. We must acknowledge the pain of our Black community along with all groups and individuals who are subjected to mistreatment. We must become agents of change. We must demonstrate compassion, kindness, and equity in our pursuit of a society that embraces our differences and reflects the strength in our diversity. We must ensure that every child at WUSD, and across the world, grows up knowing and believing they can become whoever they want to be without the barriers of discrimination.
Thank you for visiting our website and we look forward to continued partnerships that will directly benefit the students of Washington Unified School District.
